Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • I understand that there are publishing costs APC (see 'Notices' section) when my item is accepted.
  • The submission has not been previously published or submitted for consideration by any other Journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Editor's Comments).
  • I attach the letter of authorship and assignment of rights with which all signatory authors agree.
  • The file with the text is COMPLETE including: title, authors, summary, keywords, full text with built-in figures and tables, bibliography (see Publishing Standards).

    ATTENTION: To ensure anonymous peer review, DO NOT include here the cover letter, assignment of rights or any identification of the authors.
  • The text has simple leading; Arial 12 points font size; italics are used instead of underscore (except in URLs); and all illustrations, figures and tables are placed in the appropriate text places, rather than at the end. The text is in a file formatted as: OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements summarized in the Author's Guidelines, which appear in About the Journal. Where possible, URLs and DOIs are provided for bibliographic references in accordance with Vancouver standards.
  • Attached the main sheet containing:
    (a) Title (in Spanish or Portuguese and English); b) Authors and c) affiliation.
  • IMPORTANT! Before sending the original, I will make sure that I have saved in the system the complete data of all the authors (names, work centers, e-mail, ORCID identifier, etc.). This is the obligation of the authors to guarantee the authorship of the originals. The publisher must not modify the authorship data that you enter.

Author Guidelines

- Publishing costs.

Since its founding forty years ago, the magazine has been free. Since September 2020, very low costs per publication have been applied in order to guarantee the quality of the magazine and improve its scope and dissemination. Currently they are:

Costs per item accepted: 175 euros (185 euros at Paypal)

Journal article reviewers and SEDCA associates: for FREE.

- Publishing modes.

Originals are currently accepted in the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese and English.

Originals that can be attached to the following modalities and types shall be accepted:

  1. Complete description of basic or clinical research that provides sufficient information to enable a critical and rigorous assessment. The maximum extension will be 14 pages INCLUDING a maximum of 4 tables, 4 figures and up to 30 bibliographic references. 
  2. Short collaborations. These will be original articles of minor entity whose extension does not exceed 6 pages INCLUDING up to 2 tables, 2 figures and up to 15 bibliographic references.
  3. They will be reviews of previous publications related to a topic of interest containing a critical analysis that allows conclusions to be obtained. 
  4. Letters to the magazine: related to articles appearing in the publication. Its maximum length will be 2 pages.
  5. In addition, clinical cases, news, reports, conferences, courses, meeting calls and congresses as well as awards and scholarships will be accepted for publication. The extension and form of presentation of the texts received for this section shall be subject without prior notice to any modifications deemed appropriate by the Editorial Committee.

Reports of studies of interest to the community of nutritional scientists will be published as research articles. 

Short articles

Reports of studies of interest to the community of nutritional scientists will be published as short research articles. 

Reviews

These reviews are published to provide current information relative to the wide range of research topics of interest to the readers of our Journal. 

Case report

Case studies of 4 or fewer patients that describe a novel situation or add important insights into
mechanisms or nutritional treatment of a disease.
