Introduction: Gastritis and/or ulcers have increased worldwide. Certain foods contain substances that will allow the regeneration of the gastric epithelium. Objective: to evaluate the effect of Glycine max (soy) drink on ethanol-induced gastric ulcers in rats. Materials and methods: experimental design with control group. Glycine max drink was used. "soy". 42 male Holtzman rats were used. The gastric ulcer was induced with 70% ethanol (10mL/kg) via the orogastric route. The rats were distributed into six groups (n=7). After 12 hours of fasting, groups II-VI received ethanol (70%), after one hour they received the following treatments for three days: group I NaCl 0.9% (10mL/kg), group II (sacrificed one hour after administration with ethanol), group III NaCl 0.9% (10mL/kg), group IV sucralfate, group V soy drink 10mL/kg and group VI soy drink 20mL/kg. After treatment, they were anesthetized and euthanized. The stomachs were extracted and washed with 0.9% NaCl for subsequent biochemical, histological, and macroscopic study. Results: at a macroscopic level, groups V-VI presented preserved folds, slight loss of mucus and gastric lesions; Histologically, the presence of mucus, areas in the healing phase and absence of hemorrhagic lesions and ulcers were observed. Groups V-VI presented a higher level of GSH, compared to group III (p<0.01), the level of mucus (V-VI) increased compared to group II. Conclusions: The administration of Glycine max has a gastroregenerative effect on ethanol-induced ulcers in rats.
