Efecto nefroprotector del jugo de Opuntia ficus indica variedad morada en ratas inducidas a daño renal por gentamicina

Resumen

Introducción: La Enfermedad Renal Crónica (ERC) se ha convertido en una epidemia silenciosa que afecta a alrededor del 10% de la población mundial, por lo que el descubrimiento de nuevos alimentos funcionales protectores es importante para frenar el desarrollo de esta enfermedad. Objetivo: Evaluar el efecto nefroprotector del jugo de fruta de Opuntia ficus indica variedad púrpura en ratas inducidas por daño renal por gentamicina.

Metodología: En el experimento se utilizó 32 ratas Holtzman macho, se usó el jugo de fruta de Opuntia ficus indica variedad morada para probar sus propiedades nefroprotectoras. Las ratas fueron asignadas aleatoriamente en cuatro grupos (n = 8). Los cuales fueron tratados durante 27 días por vía oral con lo siguiente: Grupo I y II - 1 ml/kg de suero fisiológico; Grupo III - 20 ml/kg de jugo de Opuntia ficus indica; Grupo IV - 40 ml/kg de jugo de Opuntia ficus indica. A partir del día 21, el Grupo II al IV recibieron gentamicina intramuscular a una dosis de 50 mg/kg durante 7 días.

Resultados: La administración de 40 ml/kg de Opuntia ficus indica evidenció una disminución estadísticamente significativa de la creatinina sérica, urea, ácido úrico y proteínas urinarias, histológicamente se observó una estructura conservada a nivel del glomérulo, cápsula de Bowman y una ligera descamación del nivel de los túbulos proximal y distal.

Conclusiones: El zumo de Opuntia ficus indica variedad morada a una dosis de 40 ml/kg ejerció un efecto nefroprotector en el tejido renal con la mejora de los parámetros bioquímicos y del estudio histológico.
