Fatores de risco em indivíduos com deficiências intelectuais

Resumo

Introdução: Baixos níveis de atividade física (AF) e altos níveis de obesidade têm sido relatados em indivíduos com deficiência intelectual (DI), associados às múltiplas barreiras que eles enfrentam no acesso a instalações esportivas ou programas de exercícios, colocando-os em uma situação de vulnerabilidade e risco aumentado de possíveis doenças cardiovasculares (DCV). Objetivo: analisar os fatores de risco para o desenvolvimento de DCV em indivíduos com DI que frequentam um centro de treinamento ocupacional. Métodos: Foi formada uma amostra de 11 homens e 7 mulheres com idades entre 18 e 60 anos. Os dados sobre os níveis de AF foram obtidos de seus cuidadores, bem como as medidas de índice de massa corporal (IMC), circunferência da cintura (CC), relação cintura/estatura (RCE) e pressão arterial. Resultados: As mulheres obtiveram resultados mais altos nos indicadores de adiposidade, enquanto os homens obtiveram pressão arterial mais alta, todas as variáveis sem diferenças significativas; entretanto, as mulheres apresentaram valores considerados de risco para CC, IMC e RCE, enquanto os homens para CC e RCE, e tanto as mulheres quanto os homens apresentaram baixos níveis de AF. Conclusões: A maioria dos indivíduos apresentou alterações nos marcadores de adiposidade estudados, especialmente em nível central e ainda mais nas mulheres, bem como um nível muito ruim de AF, de modo que ambos os fatores de risco poderiam contribuir para o desenvolvimento de DCV.
