Efeito da gema de ovo de Coturnix japonica (codorna) em camundongos induzidos ao dano por etanol

Introdução: A alta prevalência de doenças neurodegenerativas na população idosa requer pesquisas focadas em alimentos funcionais com propriedades reguladoras do estado redox e com potencial antioxidante. A gema de ovo de codorna é um alimento com grande diversidade de compostos antioxidantes com atividade neuroprotetora. Objetivo: Avaliar o efeito da administração de gema de ovo de Coturnix japonica (codorna) no tecido nervoso induzido por danos causados pelo etanol em camundongos. Metodologia: foram utilizados 35 camundongos, que receberam o seguinte tratamento orogástrico por cinco dias: grupos I e II água (10 mL/kg, grupo III gema (5 mL/kg), grupo IV gema (10 mL/kg) e grupo V gema (15 mL/kg). No quinto dia, etanol 99% foi administrado por via subcutânea (5g/kg) aos grupos II-V, após quatro horas os camundongos foram decapitados para obtenção do cérebro e cerebelo e posteriormente executados. testes bioquímicos e análise histopatológica. Resultados: O grupo IV apresentou um fenômeno de proliferação neuronal e multiestratificação das células de Purkinje no cérebro e cerebelo respectivamente, além disso apresentou uma melhor relação GSH/GSSG (p<0,05) em relação ao grupo II, não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa entre níveis de proteína e grupos sulfidrila de proteína em nenhum dos grupos. Conclusões: A administração de gema de ovo Coturnix japonica produziu melhor preservação da citoarquitetura do cérebro e cerebelo, bem como um aumento no perfil de GSH.
