Nutrition Education Using Video Improves Iron Intake and Dietary Diversity among Adolescents: Um estudo quase-experimental

Contexto: A educação nutricional é fundamental para melhorar o conhecimento nutricional das crianças em idade escolar, promover atitudes positivas em relação aos alimentos e desenvolver hábitos alimentares saudáveis para lidar com a tripla carga de desnutrição que atualmente afeta os adolescentes. O objetivo deste estudo é determinar o impacto dos vídeos de educação nutricional sobre a ingestão de ferro e a diversidade alimentar entre os adolescentes que vivem em Makassar, Sulawesi do Sul, Indonésia. Métodos: Este estudo empregou um projeto quase-experimental com um teste pré-pós não randomizado e um grupo de controle. O estudo de intervenção envolveu 69 adolescentes, sendo 34 participantes no grupo de intervenção e 35 no grupo de controle. O grupo de intervenção recebeu sete sessões de educação por vídeo, enquanto o grupo de controle recebeu apenas uma. A ingestão de ferro foi medida por meio do SQ-FFQ, e a diversidade alimentar foi avaliada por meio de um recordatório de 24 horas antes e depois da intervenção. Resultados: As adolescentes do sexo feminino deste estudo tinham entre 15 e 16 anos, a maioria dos pais tinha ensino médio e os pais trabalhavam como empresários em ambos os grupos. A ingestão de ferro no grupo de intervenção aumentou de 5,33 g/dia (pré-teste) para 9,70 g/dia (pós-teste), enquanto o grupo de controle sofreu uma redução de 6,90 g/dia para 5,42 g/dia. A diferença na ingestão de ferro entre os dois grupos foi significativa (P-valor 0,000, p<0,05). A diversidade da dieta no grupo de intervenção aumentou de 2,71 (pré-teste) para 4,06 (pós-teste), enquanto o grupo de controle aumentou ligeiramente de 3,09 para 3,17. As diferenças entre os grupos também foram significativas (P-valor 0,000, p<0,05). Conclusão: A educação nutricional aumentou efetivamente a ingestão de ferro e a diversidade da dieta no grupo de intervenção em comparação com o grupo de controle.
