Relación entre adiposidad corporal y fuerza de prensión manual con la preocupación por la alimentación en deportistas universitarios

Introdução: A composição corporal é fundamental para a saúde e o condicionamento físico adequados. Além disso, a força muscular é usada como um importante indicador do desempenho esportivo.
Objetivo: relacionar a adiposidade corporal e a força de preensão manual com preocupações dietéticas em atletas universitários.
Metodologia: Foi realizado um estudo descritivo (comparativo-correlacional) com 130 atletas universitários de uma universidade no Chile (90 homens e 40 mulheres). A faixa etária variou de 18 a 28 anos. Foram avaliadas as medidas antropométricas: peso, altura, 5 dobras cutâneas (bicipital, tricipital, subescapular, suprailíaca e abdominal), força de preensão manual (MPF) e foi aplicada a escala de preocupação com alimentos. Foram calculados o percentual de gordura corporal e o índice de massa corporal (IMC).
Resultados: A escala de preocupação com a comida foi negativamente relacionada aos indicadores de adiposidade corporal (r= -0,16 a -0,33; p<0,05), enquanto as correlações de FPM (direita e esquerda) com a escala de preocupação com a comida foram positivas (r= 0,20 a 0,24; p<0,05). Os homens classificados como altamente preocupados e moderados apresentaram melhores níveis de adiposidade e maior FPM na mão direita (p<0,05), enquanto as mulheres, apenas aquelas classificadas como altamente preocupadas, apresentaram níveis mais baixos de adiposidade e melhor FPM em ambas as mãos (p<0,05).
Conclusão: Os jovens com níveis mais altos de preocupação com a alimentação apresentaram níveis mais baixos de adiposidade corporal e melhor desempenho no FPM do que seus colegas com níveis mais baixos de preocupação. Esses resultados sugerem a promoção de conversas sobre o consumo de alimentos, pois essa pode ser uma excelente alternativa para sensibilizar os jovens a cuidar da adiposidade corporal e da força isométrica.
