Terminología y clasificación de las dietas de adelgazamientos milagrosas: Una revisión narrativa y nuevas propuestas.

Resumen

Introducción: En los últimos años se ha incrementado el uso confuso o engañoso del término llamado dietas milagrosas o mágicas, que se utilizan para el tratamiento de adelgazamiento, junto con varias clasificaciones de las mismas.

Objetivos: El propósito de esta revisión narrativa es discutir las dietas milagrosas para adelgazar y proponer un nuevo término y una nueva clasificación para estas dietas.

Métodos: Se realizó una revisión narrativa hasta septiembre de 2021 en PubMed, Google Scholar y Web of Knowledge. Además, esta estrategia se complementó con una búsqueda exhaustiva de la literatura 'gris' [7] basada en cuatro estrategias de búsqueda diferentes: i) bases de datos de literatura gris, ii) motores de búsqueda personalizados de Google, iii) sitios web específicos y iv) consulta con contacto expertos.

Resultados: Nuestra propuesta es utilizar el nuevo concepto denominado dietas de adelgazamiento peligrosas definidas como dietas que proponen una pérdida de peso rápida (> 1 kg / semana), a realizar sin esfuerzo, sin la supervisión de un profesional médico / nutricional, restricciones energéticas excesivas y / o exclusión de la dieta de alimentos o nutrientes para el cuerpo. Además, el desarrollo de un nuevo algoritmo reflejó como es posible clasificar la dieta como dieta no efectiva, peligrosa y efectiva.

Conclusiones: Nuestra revisión podría ayudar a clasificar y desarrollar una nueva terminología sobre las dietas adelgazantes milagrosas enfocándose en el conocimiento para garantizar la calidad en los tratamientos para adelgazar.
